Terms of Service

Last updated: 1 November 2026

1. About these terms

These terms are the agreement between you and the operator of Bren’s Table (“we”, “us”), a sole trader in the United Kingdom, for your use of the game at brens-table.vercel.app (the “Service”). By signing in or playing, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Service. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your personal data.

2. Who can play

You must be at least 18 years old to use Bren’s Table. The stories can include violence, peril, dark themes and mature content. By using the Service you confirm you are 18 or over. We may close any account we reasonably believe belongs to someone under 18.

3. Your account

  • You sign in with your Google account. Keep it secure; you are responsible for activity on your account.
  • One person per account. Don’t share your account or sign in as someone else.
  • Your campaigns are saved in your browser and with your account, so they follow you to any device you sign in on. Campaigns you burn, and everything in an account you delete, can’t be recovered.

4. The Service

Bren’s Table is an AI dungeon master for solo tabletop roleplaying. It is a new, actively developed game: we may add, change or remove features, worlds and rules, and the Service may sometimes be unavailable. We’ll try to give notice of changes that significantly affect you. Every account currently receives a number of free rounds of play, refilled every 30 days; the allowance may change.

A round is one turn at the table. Beyond your free rounds, you can buy more on the Add Rounds page:

  • Wanderer: $4.99 once, for 50 rounds.
  • Adventurer: $14.99 a month, for 200 rounds every month until you cancel.
  • Champion: $24.99 a month, for 500 rounds every month until you cancel.
  • Prices and payment. Prices are in US dollars. Your bank may charge a currency conversion fee, and sales tax or VAT is added where the law requires it; you’ll see the total before you pay. Payments are taken by our payment processor, Stripe. We never see or store your full card details.
  • Rounds you buy are added to your account as soon as payment goes through, are shared by all your campaigns, and never expire while your account exists. They are a licence to use the Service, not money: they have no cash value, can’t be exchanged for cash or transferred to another account, and are used after your free rounds each month.
  • Monthly plans (Adventurer and Champion) renew automatically each month on the day you first subscribed, and each paid month adds that plan’s rounds to your account. You can change or cancel your plan at any time with Manage plan on the Add Rounds page. Cancelling stops future payments; you keep the rounds already added. If a renewal payment fails, Stripe will try again for a short time, and if it still fails the plan ends.
  • Price changes. We may change our prices. A new price never applies to a payment you have already made, and we’ll tell you at least 30 days before a new price applies to your monthly plan, so you can cancel first if you don’t agree.
  • Your right to cancel. Rounds are digital content supplied straight away. Before you pay, you ask us to supply them immediately and agree that you lose your 14-day right to cancel once they are added to your account. This applies to each month of a plan as well.
  • Refunds. If a turn fails because the storyteller doesn’t answer, its round is given back automatically. If something you bought is faulty or isn’t as described, or you were charged in error, email brenstable@gmail.com and we’ll put it right with a repair, replacement rounds or a refund, as the law requires. Otherwise payments aren’t refundable. Your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, and under the consumer law where you live (section 14), are not affected.
  • Chargebacks. Please contact us before disputing a payment with your bank, so we can sort it out. We may remove rounds bought with a payment that is reversed.

6. AI-generated content

  • Bren and every character in the game are AI. Stories are written by an AI model and portraits are painted by an AI image model, in response to what you write.
  • It’s fiction. AI output can be inaccurate, inconsistent, surprising or occasionally unsettling. It is for entertainment only and is not advice of any kind (medical, legal, financial or otherwise).
  • Similar prompts can produce similar results, so other players may receive content that resembles yours.
  • If the story ever turns to something that worries you about your own safety or someone else’s, please step away from the game and talk to someone you trust. Samaritans are available any time on 116 123 in the UK and Ireland; in the US and Canada, call or text 988. Elsewhere, contact your local emergency services or a crisis line near you.

7. Rules of the table

Bren’s Table is for adventure, not harm. Our Content Policy explains these rules in more detail. You must not use the Service to:

  • create or request sexual content involving minors, or any content that sexualises children, in any form;
  • create content that is illegal, or that promotes terrorism, violent extremism or real-world violence;
  • harass, threaten, defame or impersonate real people, or create sexual or degrading content about real people;
  • obtain real-world instructions for weapons, self-harm, crime or other dangerous activities, including by wrapping the request in a story;
  • try to make the AI break its safety rules, or misuse the Service in a way that breaks our AI providers’ usage policies (such as Anthropic’s Usage Policy);
  • call our servers or AI endpoints from outside the game, scrape the Service, get around request limits or payments, or interfere with the Service or other players;
  • upload or enter content you don’t have the right to use, or infringe anyone’s intellectual property.

We may refuse requests, end a story, or suspend or close accounts that break these rules, and report illegal content to the authorities where the law requires it.

8. Your content

You keep any rights you have in what you write. You give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, process and transmit it (including sending it to our AI providers) as needed to run the Service for you. This licence ends when the content is deleted, except where the law requires us to keep it.

As between you and us, you may use the stories and portraits generated for your campaigns for your own personal, non-commercial purposes, such as keeping them or sharing them with friends. AI-generated material may not be protected by copyright, and we can’t promise it doesn’t resemble existing works.

9. Our content

The Service itself (its name, worlds, characters, rules, artwork, design and code) belongs to us or our licensors. You may use it to play the game, but not copy, resell or build on it without our permission. Music on the landing page is “Virtutes Instrumenti” by Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com), licensed under CC BY 4.0.

Bren’s Table is an independent game. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to Dungeons & Dragons®, Wizards of the Coast or Hasbro.

If you believe something on the Service infringes your copyright or other rights, email brenstable@gmail.com with: your name and contact details; the work you say is infringed; where the material appears on the Service; and a statement that the information is accurate and that you own or are authorised to act for the owner of the rights. We’ll review it promptly and remove material where appropriate. Our Copyright page sets out the full process, including DMCA notices and counter-notices.

11. Ending your use

You can stop playing at any time, and delete your account yourself with Profile → Erase data, or by emailing brenstable@gmail.com. Deleting your account cancels any monthly plan straight away. Unused rounds, bought ones included, are lost when an account is deleted. We may suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, or if we have to for legal reasons. If we stop running the Service entirely, we’ll give reasonable notice where we can.

12. Our responsibility to you

  • We provide the Service with reasonable care and skill. Because it is an evolving game built on AI, it is otherwise provided “as is”, and we don’t promise it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that your campaigns will never be lost.
  • We are not responsible for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable, for any business losses (the Service is for personal use only), or for losses caused by events outside our reasonable control.
  • Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn’t allow us to limit, and nothing affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the Service grows, for example when we add features or change our plans. The date at the top shows the latest version. We’ll tell you about significant changes in the game or by email before they take effect. If you keep playing after that, the new terms apply; if you don’t agree, you can stop using the Service.

14. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you have a complaint, please contact us first and we’ll try to resolve it.

If you use the Service as a consumer, choosing English law doesn’t take away the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of the country, state or province where you live, and nothing in these terms limits rights those laws say can’t be limited. In particular:

  • United Kingdom: you can bring proceedings in the courts of England and Wales or, if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, in your local courts.
  • EU and EEA (including the Nordic countries): you keep the protection of your country’s consumer laws, and you can bring proceedings in the courts where you live.
  • United States: some states don’t allow certain warranty disclaimers or limits on liability, so parts of section 12 may not apply to you. Section 12 applies only to the extent your state’s law allows.
  • Canada: you keep the protection of your province’s consumer protection laws. If you live in Quebec, the Consumer Protection Act applies, and any term that law doesn’t allow, including a limit on our liability it forbids, doesn’t apply to you.

If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest still applies. These terms are the whole agreement between you and us about the Service.
